Tragic day in the NFL

While I have no desire to make this newsletter a simple reporting of bad things that happen, I think it would be a missed opportunity to not acknowledge a recent tragedy in the NFL and to re-affirm what a coach’s role is when it comes to the mental health of your players.

Marshawn Kneeland, a 24 year old player for the Dallas Cowboys, took his life Thursday morning just 3 days after scoring a touchdown on Monday Night Football.

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland died Thursday morning from an apparent suicide following a police pursuit and vehicle crash, according to authorities.

Yesterday, each NFL game honored his memory with a moment of silence, followed by a message encouraging people to get help and check on the people you love and care about.
