Addressing the Nonchalance Culture

All day, at every school in the country, kids are holding themselves back out of fear of getting made fun of for trying too hard and caring too much. Self Care and Burnout

It’s June, and we’re almost there! But that also means some chaos, overwhelming conclusions to seasons and school years, and a long time since everyone’s had a meaningful break. It’s natural to experience some degree of burnout — low energy, lack of motivation, frustration, and poor tolerance for stress. If you’re experiencing these, it’s important to engage in self-care to improve your mental state.

In my years at the University of Massachusetts, I assisted coaches with a Burnout Prevention workshop to identify self-care strategies based on what they may be struggling with. The different types of burnout I assessed and provided education about were: Physical, Psychological, Social, Spiritual, and Professional.

Here is the survey to identify aspects of self-care you may be lacking in and suggestions for habits to incorporate into your routine.
